Self-Control

Self Discipline and Self-Control – the formalities of Mixed Martial A rts classes and learning to follow directions, take turns, and work with others. Participants in the martial arts learn good behavior and respect for themselves and those around them, be they fellow students, adults, or coaches. This discipline transfers to good study habits for kids, increases in grades, and more social adaptability. The longer they train, the less hostile, aggressive, or anxious they become.

Confidence and Self Esteem

Dealing with the challenges of Mixed Martial Arts and CrossFit helps people deal with the other things they find difficult in their lives. By learning to set and achieve personal goals in their training they are able to apply these skills to other areas of their life, which contributes to positive growth. Success is grown and cultivated through hard work and commitment. As people learn to value themselves they learn to value others. This also helps them feel less vulnerable, increasing both their confidence and self-esteem.

Self-Defense

The ability to protect yourself and those around you in a worst-case situation is self-defense. That ability and more importantly, being able to make good decisions to keep you out of trouble are important to many of our participants. Adults and more importantly adults and children alike learn when violence is an acceptable last resort and to avoid conflict when ever possible. Martial arts are great as sport and a good way to get fit, but they really come into their own when they are used in self-defense.

Overall Fitness for a lifetime, Exercise, and Weight Control – less boring than running on a treadmill or lifting weights, many find the different regimens and varied techniques of Mixed Martial Arts more stimulating and challenging than standard weightlifting and cardio classes. They find the functional movements of CrossFit and the martial arts classes help them stay prepared for everyday physical demands, and fight off the ravages of aging. While many enjoy the improved health that their weight loss brings them, others find the workouts help them build lean muscle mass and functional strength and flexibility. Cardiovascular health, strength, power, flexibility, coordination, stamina, balance, fat-loss, healthy living habits, better quality sleep and less sleeplessness are just a few of the benefits available to people who apply these disciplines to their lives.
